DaFlip consist of 3 members Kevin “K-Dub” Wilson, Jerrick “Playa-J” Dawson, and Lorenzo “Zo” Winston. Since 03’ the 3 have been making quality music that set them apart from any other artists doing music at that time, and up to this date. During the time when the St .Louis music scene was heavily being recognized for its country slang and its club oriented music the DaFlip was anxiously awaiting their turn to shine. So like many other up and coming rappers DaFlip began doing shows around their city trying to build name for themselves, performing at major venues such as The Pageant and clubs like the vault, soon after DaFlip began to get recognition that they deserved, but it still was not enough to catch the ears of industry executives. From mixtapes to apparel and a quickly growing fan base they decided to network with Grammy winning super producers the Trak Starz, and radio personality Tony J. With the advice given, they went into continuous recording sessions in order to stay relevant to the streets. With the success of their two singles “At the bar” produced my K-Dub and their crossover r&b single “Main Chic” which somehow was leaked, they went on to promote themselves in other cities. During out of state promotions they ran into the president of the Slip-n-Slide Dj Coalition Troy 2Davent who soon invited the group to Florida for a music conference. After being stripped of their well deserved award following the conference they returned home with plans of heading back out of town to continue promotion. Now with their craft perfected they have gained the respect of a broad audience giving them room to conquer any genre of music. Having this unique style separates them from all of the acts in the music industry today. With Zo’s unique club style, Dub’s unique word play, and Playa-J’s ability to cater to the streets they come together to create the super group that the world will know as DaFlip. The industry has not given that many groups a chance to shine but DaFlip plans to change that with their new “It” genre.
